There were eight women in Katosi who hoped to uplift the standard of living in their community through networking and advocating. Through this initiative they started the organisation with registering member’s and other community activities like fishing.
The organisation has since enjoyed cooperating with the district leaders. It has helped at improving the livelihood of the women in the community and improving the water sanitation and hygiene program within the community.
The current programmes being undertaken so far include water programs i.e. constructing shallow wells and cement built water tanks both in the community, at schools, and individual members. We’ve managed to construct more than 100 water harvesting tanks, shallow wells in 4 sub-counties in Mukono district i.e. Ntenjeru, mpunga, Nakisunga, Mpata and Nama. We have managed to win many awards in water sanitation and hygiene. Recently the organization won a water award for the whole world.
We are still constrained by financial support which is not enough such that we reach out to more members.
We thank CARITAS Uganda, German, Netherlands, France, UK for their support in our programmes.
