The organisation was started by the Diocesan secretariat, through bishops’ fund, to help vulnerable communities to educate through providing scholastic materials. Its Catholic based and it operates in the diocesan secretariat. In Uganda all Catholics have their regional areas where OVCs are cantered.
The initial activities included provision of scholastic materials i.e. school fees, uniforms, books. The organisation has since then gone through broadening our scale of operation to the entire diocese and sending students to schools out of Kigezi region depending on whether they have excelled and have been admitted by UNEB.
Currently, we are building a technical school under the solidarity foundation to train in technical educational programs like carpentry and building especially to those who can’t join to secondary school depending on the national entry level.
We have so far managed to support 145 Primary school pupils; 120 Secondary school (o’ level) students; 100 High school (A’ level) students; 45 undergraduates and 12 graduates
In all this, we still need to a sustainable way of sourcing of funds to cater for the ever increasing number of OVCs.
We want to acknowledge and thank the following partners who have given us tremendous support
