After a baseline study that was carried out in Kayonza sub- County by Herbert Banobi about the backwardness in Kayonza, he started the organisation as a CBO in order to advocate for the development of the area. Community members gathered, brought all the locally available resources/materials and construction for the organization office. They decided to start new projects like community tourism, village based trainers’ training program.
Most of those projects included a conservation project; village based training program, eco-tourism project and community sensitization.
Since the organisation started, a 15KM square land of the bare Nyundo hills was conserved and a thick forest regenerated. To date,over 100 villages in the south western region of Uganda are reached with village based trainers.
We are currently engaged in the following programmes;
• Butterfly farming
• Snake park project
• Community eco- tourism
• Rights awareness
We have managed to acquire a four roomed office with a boardroom has been constructed. The scaling up of the 76 Batwa communities has also been reached. The organization being in a really hard to reach place it has done its best to impact development in the area.
However, we still lack of facilities at the office like electricity, ICT materials, limited staff and limited funds.
We are very grateful to Uganda Wildlife Society, Ford foundation, CARE and other friends of the organization for their support.
